Online Fall Classes

Registration begins August 1. Online Fall Class will start in October.

SET A

Class Information:

  • Students in grades 1-2 with limited or no math competition experience are invited to join the Exploring course.
  • In this course, students will be introduced to 2D and 3D visualization as well as the problem-solving strategies of Draw a Picture, Find a Pattern, Make an Organized List, Build a Table, Work Backwards, and Guess and Check through a mixture of Level 1-2 Kangaroo problems.
  • Homework for this course will be problems very similar to those seen in class to reinforce the use of the strategies taught each week.
  • The course will culminate in working through the entire 2012 Level 1-2 contest together as a group.
  • This class is planned to meet 10 times for 1 hour each.
  • The class size: 12 students.

SET A

Class Information:

  • Students with math competition experience or who are interested in competing at a high level in Math Kangaroo are invited to join the Navigating Course.
  • This course draws on problems from the Level 3-4 competitions, and assumes students have some familiarity with problem solving strategies.
  • This course is intense and fast-paced, and the required homework each week will be an entire Math Kangaroo exam to build the students’ persistence and stamina for the actual competition.
  • The course will culminate in a math project that the students present.
  • This class is planned to meet 10 times for 1 hour each.
  • The class size: 12 students.

  • Students in grades 5-6 with math competition experience or who are interested in competing at a high level in Math Kangaroo are invited to join the Discovering Course.
  • This course draws on problems from the Level 5-6 competitions, and assumes students have familiarity with problem solving strategies.
  • This course is intense but fun at the same time.
  • At the end of the class the students will design their own problem.
  • This class is planned to meet 10 times for 1 hour each.
  • The class size: 12 students.

SET A

Class Information:

  • Students in grades 7-8 with math competition experience or who are interested in competing at a high level in Math Kangaroo are invited to join the Investigating Course.
  • In this course, students will work with rational numbers, algebra, multiples/factors, 2D and 3D Geometry, spatial and logical reasoning, combinatorics, clocks, calendars and percentages.
  • The class will include Genius Hour Project where students will create their own MK-style problems.
  • Homework for this course will be problems very similar to those seen in class to reinforce the use of the strategies taught each week.
  • This class is planned to meet 10 times for 1 hour each.
  • The class size: 12 students.

  • This course draws on problems from the Level 9-10 competitions, and assumes students have some familiarity with problem solving strategies.
  • This course is intense but fun at the same time.
  • Homework for this course will be problems very similar to those seen in class to reinforce the use of the strategies taught each week.
  • Optional homework each week, starting with lesson 2, will be an entire Math Kangaroo exam to build the students’ persistence and stamina for the actual competition.
  • The course will culminate in a math project that the students present.
  • This class is planned to meet 10 times for 1 hour each.
  • The class size: 12 students.
